St Vincent De Paul

SVDPThe St Vincent de Paul Society was founded by a 20 year old student named Frederic Ozanam over 170 years ago. It was established by like-minded people who wanted to put their faith into action.

The Society is a lay Catholic organisation, which consists of men and women who strive to live as disciples of Christ, in ministering to the poor with love, respect, justice, hope and joy, and by working to shape a more just and compassionate society.

At the heart of the St Vincent de Paul Society is a profound sense of respect for the people we serve and a desire to learn from them. No work of charity is foreign to us. No person is alien to us.

The Toukley / Lake Munmorah Conference of St. Vincent De Paul, whose main task is to assist and support those in need within the local community, meets fortnightly on Thursday at 10.00 am, in St. Mary’s Parish Centre Toukley. New members for this ministry in Charity are always welcome.

If you wish to join our parish Conference, or want further information, please contact Bob on 0438 467991 or Campbell on 0427 908107.

Catholic Women's League

CWLThe Catholic Women’s League of Australia (CWLA) addresses social justice and ethical questions as one of our primary tasks.

The CWLA seeks to influence legislative and administrative bodies at all levels in order to preserve the dignity of the human person, and strive to be a voice for the voiceless; and have representation at the United Nations.

We also liaise with other organisations and faith communities in a creating awareness about social justice and ethical issues. We foster ecumenism and inter-faith dialogue.

The Toukley Branch of the Catholic Women’s League supports a Scholarship Fund to assist students, in Year 11 and Year 12, at Catholic Colleges on the Central Coast to complete their studies.

Scholarships are awarded annually, to assist students with their studies, and in August a morning tea  is held to meet the recipients, and hear of their interests and aspirations. In previous years, all have been worthy recipients and were most appreciative of the financial assistance given them to complete their studies.

Our vision is to create a more just society through prayer and action and our work is dedicated to Our Lady Help of Christians and the Holy Spirit.

We meet on the fourth Monday of each month, in the parish centre, at St Mary’s Toukley at 10.00am

Our hope is that more women, young and old, will join with us in the service of the Lord.

If you would like to join the Catholic Wwomen’s League you would be most welcome.
